Out and about part 2

I’ve got another busy day ahead of me!! Going to lunch with my pastor, getting my hair cut!, and going to dinner with some family. Oh, and school. =P

I woke up bright n’ early this morning and had an extremely boring breakfast. Grits and orange juice. Exciting, no? It was tasty, nonetheless. Then, I did a 20 min strength routine that included tons of squats, lunges, pushups, crunches and all of that fun stuff.

Got right down to work, and I’ve almost finished everything that I had to do for school today!!!!! Sooooo happy!!!!!!!

A good weekend so far

This weekend has really been a good one. I got to spend time with my dad for the first time in 6 weeks, watch a couple of movies, visit with friends, go to church, and later today I will visit some family. It might sound boring to ya’ll, but I’ve really enjoyed it.

One thing that I’m a little less than excited about is our upcoming two-week trip. Don’t get me wrong, I really do want to see everyone that we will visit, I just REALLY don’t like road trips. Especially 2 week long ones. But, oh well, it’ll be a good experience, I guess.

I knew that we would be staying a little longer at church today so that my dad could see everyone, so I had a protein-packed breakfast! I scrambled an egg with some chopped tomatoes, onions and bell peppers. I then put the scramble into a flour tortilla and had a “breakfast burrito, Jen-style”. To drink, I had my first mocha protein shake in a while. It was sooo good and the entire meal kept me full until lunchtime.

My dad had been wanting to go to Wendy’s since he got here, so guess where we had lunch???? I ordered the Ultimate Chicken Grill with no honey mustard sauce(I usually like honey mustard, but not this sauce…strange, I know), with a side of mandarin oranges and a lemonade. It was a pretty darn good meal, if you ask me.  The protein from the chicken will keep me full during the one hour trip to my grandmother’s. =D

I know I usually don’t talk about snacks, but today I’m stuck between two.

1. Carmel Nut Brownie Luna Bar

2. Banana Bread Larabar

I’ve had the luna before, and I love it. I would like to try the larabar, but the 10g of fat and 230 cals. sort of threw me off. I know that it is healthy fat and the bar is made from natural food, but I also know that we are probably going to eat out again at dinner with my dad’s brother and his family. Both are good snack options, so I’m having a hard time choosing!

Which do you prefer, Luna Bars or Larabars?

I know that this is gonna sound rude, but I really have no idea what to talk about with my cousin. She is a year younger than me, but we are completely different. She talks about all of the different guys that she likes and stuff like that. If you’re homeschooled, like me, and don’t get out much, then you don’t deal with all of that. At least I don’t. So pray for me please! I really love her, but it just seems that we don’t really have a whole lot to talk about.

I Love Mexican Food

I guess the title of this post gave away the type of food we ate last night, huh??

We haven’t had mexican in soooo long, we went to a little place called Mi Pueblo’s!!!!! I ordered some grilled shrimp served over rice (which might have had some cheese sauce on it =D, with pico and fresh veggies!! Soo good!! I ate almost EVERYTHING and it was an extremely large portion, so I was pretty stuffed.

This morning, I kept things simple with a peaches n’ cream shake and a bowl of grits. The shake had 1 serving of Aria vanilla protein powder (2 scoops), some water and milk, 1 peach yogurt and some frozen peach slices!! It was awesome!

Now, we’re just hangin’ out and enjoying the weekend. Next week we begin traveling, and things are going to get pretty crazy, so we want to relax and rest up now. Which is why I am now back in bed while writing this post.

Mahi Mahi and a lot of school

Guess what? I tried mahi mahi for the first time EVER last night!!!!!!!! We had all eaten a LOT of food for lunch, so we decided to have a lighter supper, consisting of a salad with our choice of protein. While in the grocery store, I found a single-serving pouch of mahi mahi, and because my dad and I are the only ones in the family who like fish, and he isn’t here, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try a new kind of fish without having leftovers. I broiled it with some lemon juice, spicy season-all and pepper. Soooo yummy!!!! I put it on top of a bed of lettuce, various types of tomatoes (yellow, plum and cherry =P), onions, bell peppers, celery and mushrooms. Then, I drizzled a little bit of a fat free Honey Dijon salad dressing on top!!!! It was wonderful without being too heavy!!!!!!!!!! Do you like fish? What is your favorite type, and how do you like to prepare it?

Today’s breakfast was boring: mocha protein shake and oatmeal, so I’m just going to skip right over it. =D

I have finished a map of the US in 1860 for my history class, which is good, but I still have a timeline for the same class to do. I also have algebra work, a chemistry essay and labs, and a bunch of other stuff that I didn’t do yesterday. Whoops!!!! =P Sooo today will be pretty filled with school stuff!

Oh! I have wonderful news!! My dad is getting here tomorrow!! I’m sooooooo excited! It has been almost 6 weeks since I saw him!

A biiiiiiiiiiig day

Before I get started on school talk, I HAVE to tell you about the wonderful smoothie that I had this morning. I know, I know…I have a smoothie every morning. But let me tell you, today’s was SPECIAL and also involved no chocolate, which for me, is odd. Anyway, last night I put some peach slices and a container of peach yogurt in the freezer. This morning, I put some orange juice in the blender along with said yogurt and peach slices. Then I added some sugar and cottage cheese(for extra protein :P) and blended. It was soo thick, I had to eat it with a spoon at first!!!!!!! Perfect way to start the day!

I know that to most, 5 hours of school doesn’t sound like much. But I’m not talking about a normal school, where you have a 7 hour day that includes lunch, breaks, distractions,etc. I’m talking about a total of 5 hours in which I did nothing but schoolwork. I’m homeschooled (or internet-schooled, whichever =P), and a typical day is about 3 hours of work(minus lunch and snacks =P). I did a LOT of extra work today because tomorrow, some family from West Virginia will be in town and we’re going to go see them.

I did, however, get to go to Panera Bread for the first time EVER. It was sooooo yummy!!!!!!! I got half of a strawberry poppyseed chicken salad(no pecans….blegh) and a cup of garden vegetable soup with pesto. Sooooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I came home and did more school.

Also, I found out that my camera is officially dead and cannot be fixed, which stinks. =(

In a couple of hours a friend (the same one that came for dinner wed. and who took me to Whole Foods) is coming for dinner again. We’re gonna have sweet potatoes, corn and hamburger steaks w/ mushrooms.

My poor, neglected blog

I’m sooooooooo sorry about not posting at all this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been out and about…don’t even remember what all I ate yesterday!

Soooo, I’ll start with breakfast today. It was pretty boring actually, a bowl of plain oatmeal and my mocha protein shake. The only difference was that the milk was bad so I just poured extra coffee into the shake and added a couple of peppermints to have a peppermint mocha. Not too bad, actually.

After that breakfast, we headed off to church, which was great. Then we had a girl’s day and went to Chili’s for lunch. I had the GG Classic Sirloin. It was a 7-ounce grilled sirloin served with pico de gallo on top and steamed broccoli and carrots on the side! I also got the Mango Iced tea and may have sneaked a couple of fries from my mom’s plate….soo good!

Then, we were home for a bit, and later this afternoon, off to help a friend organize clothes for a consignment sale. We just got home, and I had some chicken noodle soup (Progresso reduced sodium), crackers, half a purple tomato, some cottage cheese(I think I may be obsessed =P), a mini three musketeers and, randomly, a pickle. How a pickle fits into the meal, I don’t know. Come to think of it, nothing in my dinner actually went together, except for maybe the soup and saltines.

Tomorrow I have school. I’m so excited. Can’t you tell????

Why I didn’t post and a busy day(weekend)

I’m soooooo sorry that I didn’t post last night! My sister and I watched a movie (yes, another one) and I immediately crashed. I guess school had really stressed me out, even more than I realized.

But, last night’s dinner was sooo good that I have to at least mention it here. Mom bought us some shrimp, because she doesn’t like them herself, and I used some of them to make a shrimp burrito!! I spread some mashed-up black beans on a tortilla, put the shrimp (seasoned with spicy season-all) on next, spread a cottage cheese mixture (cc with fajita seasoning, garlic salt, and pepper) and then put some of the chopped veggies that I mentioned a couple days ago. It was soooo yummy! The rest of my shrimp I ate with just a little spicy season-all on them. I also ate an orange tomato with some more cottage cheese (just plain this time =D). I finished it all of with, yet another, three musketeers!!! whooooo!!! It was an awesome friday meal (or any other day for that matter)!!!!!!!

For today’s breakfast, I was craving something simple and familiar. I’ve been tryin’ out some new stuff (hello choc. pb oatmeal) which I’ve really liked, but just like yesterday with the string cheese, when my body tells me what it wants, I try to listen. Otherwise, I usually end up really grumpy. Does that happen to anyone else?

Anyhow, I made my favorite mocha protein shake, which I haven’t made in a while and ate a bowl of butter-flavored grits! Pretty simple, I’ll admit, but there was something comforting in its simplicity! Also, for the first time, I added just a dash of cinnamon to my shake, and it was pretty awesome!

We’re gonna be out and about pretty much all weekend! Goin’ to my grandmother’s this morning, then visiting my aunt (one of my mom’s sisters) later on. My aunt is watching one of my cousin’s kids, because the other one is having his tonsils out. Also, this cousin’s mom, my mom’s other sister, is with another one of her daughters in NJ, because that daughter is in the hospital. Soo a pretty complicated time for that side of the family….please be praying for them all!!!!! I sure hope that I made sense. =P

Tomorrow, we’re gonna help a friend of mine sort through some clothes that they’re gonna donate. Usually she does it alone,  but we decided to help her since we’re here anyway. Also, her family is gonna have a CRAZY week, because one of her siblings is having surgery. Please pray for them also!!!!

Guess what? My dad gets in this week!!! I’m soooo excited!!!! It has been 6 weeks since I last saw him!!!!! Can’t believe how time has flown. He arrives Thursday, and next Tuesday we set out on a 2 week road trip! Gotta visit lots of people! Then, we’ll spend 2 weeks here, and set out for yet another 2 weeks of traveling!

Well that’s about it for now……sorry again about not posting last night!
